'Amazing Race' Recap: Art and JJ Share Prize With Bopper, Rachel R. Has Another Meltdown
"The Amazing Race" started the journey in Europe in the Sunday, March 11 outing. The remaining eight teams kicked off the episode from Paraguay where they had to fly 6,000 miles to Turin, Italy. Mark and Bopper made a mistake by not following the clue and heading directly to an airport instead of going to a travel agency first.
The other seven teams took a flight that arrived an hour and fifteen minutes earlier than Mark and Bopper's. Art and JJ were the first to reach the Lingotto Building and found a Fast Forward. It allowed them to head directly to the pit stop after doing one challenge, which was to land a remote controlled helicopter on a helipad on their teammate's head.
It took a long time to nail it, but once they completed it, Art and JJ became the first team to arrive at the pit stop at Piazza Costello and won $5,000 each. Meanwhile, the rest of the teams chose to do Roadblock, where one team member had to rappel down the ramps of the Lingotto building to a ledge and get their clue in 2 minutes, or they had to start all over again.
The next destination was an old Ford museum, where the teams had to find their clue in a 1916 model Ford. They also had to park the vehicle using the auto park feature. While struggling to complete the task, Rachel R. had an argument with Brendon.
The clue led the teams to Mole Antonelliana. Joey and Danny were the first team to figure out the place first and faced Detour. The options were between "clean that statue" or "name that salami". Meanwhile, Rachel R. cried while she and her fiance headed to Detour.
Most teams chose to clean the statue, but they must be careful not to behead the statue when washing it, which Dave did. Meanwhile, Brendon and Rachel R. as well as Kerri and Stacy were the only teams who opted for the salami. Rachel R. had another breakdown during this time, threatening to call off her wedding with Brendon.
Dave and Rachel completed the Detour first and were the second team to arrive at the pit stop. Joey and Danny, Vanessa and Ralph, Nary and Jamie, Brendon and Rachel as well as Kerri and Stacey followed next, with Mark and Bopper as the last team to arrive.
Luckily, Phil Keoghan announced that it was a non-elimination leg, which meant Mark and Bopper still stay on the show. Additionally, Art and JJ decided to split the money they won in this leg with Bopper, because he joins the show to get his daughter a good treatment.
