The 'Blade Runner' actress is demanding a public apology from the Academy hours after she was placed under citizen's arrest for allegedly slapping a security guard outside the Governors Ball.

AceShowbiz - Sean Young maintains her innocence in an alleged scuffle with a security guard at the official post-Oscars party that led to her Sunday, February 26 night arrest. The morning after she was placed under citizen's arrest, the 52-year-old actress shares her side of the story and demands an apology from the Academy.

The "Blade Runner" actress told PEOPLE, "I was just standing by the little line [outside the Governors Ball]. I wasn't bothering anybody." Claiming she's taking pictures with party guests when the security told her to leave, she went on to dish, "I started to leave and [the guard] grabbed my arm and he started pulling me. And I turned around and I was pulling my arm away - and I struck him."

Adamant that the guard was at fault, Young stated, "They need to make a public apology on behalf of their security guard." The Kate Gekko of 1987's "Wall Street" also noted that it was a lawyer for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences who suggested for her to be placed under the citizens' arrest.

In a short video filmed by TMZ, Young said as she's leaving the police station, "The Academy's lawyer ... recommended that a private person's arrest be made. And I was standing outside ... waiting and seeing friends that were going up to the Governors Ball. So what this really means is the Academy recommends that its lawyers recommend that they be carted off to spend four hours at the Hollywood police station. Shame on [them] for that."

The Academy has since released a statement in response to the incident involving Young. "There was an incident with Ms. Young outside the Academy's Governors Ball," its statement read. "It was not the Academy who pressed charges."

Young was arrested on Monday night at the Hollywood & Highland theater. About the incident, police officer Rosario Herrera told PEOPLE, "Sean Young was arrested last night at 10:30 P.M. for battery at the 1700 block of Highland Ave. She was placed under citizen's arrest and was later released from the Hollywood station."

Eyewitness Tom Januszewski told The Associated Press that the "Stripes" actress, who didn't have a ticket for admittance to the ball, was subdued by a guard with his forearm on her neck and head as other guards placed her in handcuffs. She was booked at the Hollywood police station and released early Monday morning after posting $20,000 bail.
