Alcon Entertainment's Andrew Kosove slams the recent swirling reports about Ford's casting in the untitled sequel, insisting that the rumors are 'absolutely patently false.'

AceShowbiz - Harrison Ford will likely not reprise his phenomenal role as Rick Deckard in upcoming "Blade Runner" sequel. Alcon Entertainment, the company that finances the sequel, has shot down the rumors saying that Ford is in early talks to join the yet-to-be-titled movie project.
To Deadline, Alcon's Andrew Kosove said that he and his partner Broderick Johnson couldn't just sit by while the faux rumors continue to run wildly. He then claimed, "It is absolutely patently false that there has been any discussion about Harrison Ford being in 'Blade Runner'."
"To be clear, what we are trying to do with Ridley [Scott] now is go through the painstaking process of trying to break the back of the story, figure out the direction we're going to take the movie and find a writer to work on it," he added. "The casting of the movie could not be further from our minds at this moment."
Kosove, however, noted that he didn't mean to disparage veteran actor like Ford, but the problem is that the sequel is not planned as a continuation of the original film. "It's like asking if we're going to make the sky red or blue, there has been no discussion about it," he said.
"What Ridley does in 'Prometheus' is a good template for what we're trying to do," he continued on. "He created something that has some association to the original 'Alien', but lives on its own as a standalone movie."
Still, Kosove teased that it is still possible that Ford could appear in the untitled Blade Runner project though the chance is very little. "In advance of knowing what we're going to do, I supposed you could say yes, he could. But I think it is quite unlikely."
Previously, Twitch reported that Ford has entered a negotiation with Warner Bros. Pictures to return as Deckard in the forthcoming sequel. Though so, the site stated that "it is quite possible that things won't work out" because the talks are still in a very early phase.
The original "Blade Runner" was released in 1982 with Ford starring as male lead Deckard. Based on Philip K Dick's novel "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?", the movie is set in 2019 where the Earth is invaded by androids and replicants. Deckard is tasked to track down a group of particularly dangerous replicants.
The planned sequel will bring back Ridley Scott to the directing seat. It is believed that this project will be Scott's next movie right after "Prometheus", though he has already had some other gigs on his plate.
