In collaboration with Funny Or Die, the 2012 Academy Awards releases the trailer that sees Fox and Duhamel embarking on a quest to find Crystal, the lost Oscar host who has fallen 'off the grid.'

AceShowbiz - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has collaborated with Funny Or Die to produce a trailer for the upcoming 84th Annual Academy Awards. The promotional video sees Megan Fox teaming up with her former "Transformers" co-star Josh Duhamel in tracking down a long-lost fabled "Host", Billy Crystal, who has fallen "off the grid."

The trailer, which will run in over 2,000 theaters across the U.S. starting Friday, January 6, also features William Fichtner channeling Oscar producer Brian Grazer and ordering Fox and Duhammel to find Crystal in his hideout in Mongolia. Vinnie Jones also makes a cameo as a bartender, while Robin Williams appears in a nearly unrecognizable make-up as a Mongol gondolier.

Explaining the idea of the newly released trailer, Academy Chief Marketing Officer Christina Kounelias said, "We wanted to try something a little bit different this year instead of a traditional, clip-based piece. The trailer has a fun twist that conveys how exited everyone is to have Billy back."

Mike Farah, Funny Or Die's President of Production chimed in, "Our team had a great time working with the Academy and joining forces with Billy again." He added, "We think the trailer really speaks to the excitement around this year's Oscars and Funny Or Die was honored to be a part of it."

This year is going to be Crystal's ninth time hosting the Academy Awards. The actor, who lent his voice to Mike Car in 2006's animated hit movie "Cars", last hosted the prestigious prize-giving event in 2004.

The 2012 Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 26 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywod & Highland Center. The ceremony will be televised live by the ABC Television Network in more than 225 countries worldwide.
