Breaking the engagement news during The Body Shop Three-Minute Shower Challenge in New York City, the 'Shameless' actress adds, 'I'm just really happy and enjoying this time.'

AceShowbiz - After just a few months of dating, Amy Smart is engaged to HGTV's Carter Oosterhouse. It was the "Shameless" actress herself who broke her engagement news. During The Body Shop Three-Minute Shower Challenge on Thursday, April 21, she told OK! Magazine, "I just got engaged on Sunday."
Showing off her sparkler at the event held Columbia University in New York City, the 35-year-old continued to express her excitement. "I'm so happy. It was so beautiful, romantic and I was completely surprised. I'm just really happy and enjoying this time." When asked about how Carter proposed to her, she simply replied, "That's personal, but it was very touching, very loving."
While Amy kept a tight lip about Carter's proposal, a source informed Us Weekly, "It happened four days ago." Providing more details, the source dished on, "He proposed in L.A. It was a very big surprise but she is thrilled and is very excited," and added, "They are a good pair and very in sync with each other."
Amy and Carter met for the first time at a green-charity event in November 2010. About the couple, an insider told Us Weekly, "He's an eco-carpenter; Amy drives a hybrid and is the greenest girl I know. They are perfect for each other.. Here are two wholesome, kind, sweet Midwestern types. Neither has sold out and gone Hollywood."
Amy herself has nothing but praises for Carter. To OK!, she gushed, "I think he's an incredible man on so many levels. He's so kind, so respectful, loving ... he's got so many qualities that I can't wait to spend my life with." While she and her fiance are not yet sure about wedding details, the "Crank: High Voltage" admitted she "would love to have children".
