Under his deal with Warner Bros. TV, Kevin Williamson who is mastermind behind the vampire show, is told to develop a new series for The CW.

AceShowbiz - Kevin Williamson, the man behind "The Vampire Diaries", is developing a new show which sources referred to as a "companion" for the CW series. The untitled project is still in "early stages of development" and is likely not making it to the upcoming pilot season.

Deadline said it is a cross between "The X-Files" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and would focus on a group of people investigating paranormal happenings. The development is brewing at Warner Bros. TV for The CW.

Despite claimed as a companion series, sources said the pilot will not air as an episode of "Vampire Diaries" nor will any of the vampire series' cast would appear on the new show. E! Online said the project is still currently considered as "separate entity".

Williamson recently signed with WB TV and this show is under the overall deal. Rumor has it, he would bring his "Vampire Diaries" partner Julie Plec to write for the pilot.

Despite breaking their time for another show, Williamson and Plec are all-prepared for a long season of "The Vampire Diaries". Nina Dobrev said in an interview with Dose, "They've got a plan and I'm so confident in them. I know they've got a good, long plan for the show."
