PTC Praises NBA Finals for Being Family-Friendly

June 19, 2010 (4:52 am) GMT
The Parents TV Council was glad that most of the profanity language were bleeped out, inviting the person in charge of the button for a free lunch.

The Parents Television Council (PTC) has proven themselves that they are not in the business for criticisms only. The organization which serves as watchdog for programs unsuitable for children, has praised the Thursday, June 17 final of NBA game between Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics.

PTC took note that although there were some misses in the profanity language bleeping, the program which was aired on ABC took effort in covering most of them. "The most exhausted person after last night's Game Seven of the NBA finals probably wasn't a member of the Lakers or Celtics - it was the person who had control over the bleep button," PTC President Tim Winter said on Friday morning.

He went on thanking the Alphabet for making it family-friendly. He said, "We are grateful for ABC's commitment to airing a championship broadcast that children and families could enjoy without being assaulted by inappropriate and profane language. While there were a few instances of unbleeped profanity in the first game, ABC appeared to take immediate measures to improve, and they certainly did so during the remainder of the exciting series."

Winter encouraged other broadcasters to follow ABC and would like to express his gratitude by inviting the person who worked on the bleep button to lunch in downtown Los Angeles.
