Adam Lambert admits maybe he went too far when closing 2009 American Music Awards and thinks that ABC was a little mad at him.

AceShowbiz - Adam Lambert's pre-recorded performance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" has been aired Tuesday, December 1. Applying less eye make-up and wearing outfit with softer color, brown instead of black, the singer delivered "Whataya Want From Me", one of the singles in his newly-released debut album "For Your Entertainment".
In addition to singing, Adam who recently shared about going in a new direction also has an interview with Ellen DeGeneres. During the segment, the two openly-gay entertainers talked about Adam's jaw-dropping performance at 2009 American Music Awards and his "Good Morning America" cancellation.
"It was maybe a little too far," Adam said when addressing his raunchy closing act at the AMAs. "I think in hindsight I look back on it and I go, 'OK, maybe that wasn't the best first impression to make again, the first second impression.' I mean, I had fun up there, I had a good time, my dancers had fun and the band had fun. I respect people and feel like people walked away from that feeling disrespected. I would never intend to disrespect anybody. So that was not my intention."
When commenting on Ellen's belief that there is a double standard on TV, he responded, "I think too. People aren't used to seeing gay men portrayed that way on TV. The gay male image in the media tends to be very clique and safe...I was putting on a character, putting on a persona being this kind of rock star, kind of dangerous kind of guy. After seeing one of my favorites, Lady GaGa, tear it apart on stage...She was incredible. I don't know, something came over me and got caught up in the moment and maybe went a little too far."
When it comes to his "GMA" cancellation, he had this to say, "I think ABC was a little bit mad at me. I don't blame them. I got carried away...They gave me a great opportunity to close the AMAs and I would never want to smack that gift horse in the mouth. I think they were taking a leap of faith having me do that and, unfortunately, it didn't work out as we all thought it would."
