Green Day's eighth studio album will be titled '21st Century Breakdown' and released sometime in May.

AceShowbiz - Hot on the heels of the 51st Annual Grammy Awards, Green Day have revealed the working title of their new album when announcing Album of the Year at Los Angeles' STAPLES Center. During the February-8 ceremony, they proclaimed the follow up to their 2004 studio album "American Idiot" will be called "21st Century Breakdown".
Lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, backing vocalist/bassist Mike Dirnt and backing vocalist/dummer Tre Cool also reached out to their official website, promising further that the new record will be dropped sometime in May. "It's about reflecting what's been happening the past three years and putting it to melody with some bold statements," Billie meanwhile told USA Today on what fans can expect from their upcoming LP.
Back in October 2008, Green Day admitted on a video message to have worked with Garbage's drummer Butch Vig, who previously helped The Smashing Pumpkins producing their 1993 effort "Siamese Dream", for their eighth studio album. Other than that, they also announced to break down the record into three acts; "Heroes and Cons", "Charlatans and Saints" and "Horseshoes and Handgrenades".
Beside Green Day, Blink-182 have also made public their reunion plan at 2009 Grammy Awards. Drummer Travis Barker said, "We used to play music together, and we decided we're going to play music together again." They also wrote on their official website noting, "We're back. ... In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy."
