'Prison Break' Not Surviving FOX's Shuffle

'Prison Break' will have its final season in the fourth year to give room for new pilots on FOX.

A massive change in programming is being conducted by FOX. After giving another chance to "", the network axe their long-running series, "" that fails to increase the rate when it entered the fourth season. The decision came in tow with the plan to bring in more comedy to their line-up.

FOX Entertainment president Kevin Reilly announced that they will give a seal of approval for five new comedy pilots next week and that they will need the space to squeeze them in. "Prison Break" that had an average of 12.1 million viewers in the first season, will have its final showdown this midseason. "The show is just played out," Reilly explained.

"Creatively, everybody feels enough stories have been told. ...We want to finish strong and not just gimp out next season. They have a cool ending." Four more episodes are due to run starting April, and a couple more episodes may be shot.

Committed to "doubling down" on comedy, FOX will put up with the animated "" (April 19). Also hinting further on which shows they would likely put for the Fall season, Reilly mentioned J.J. Abrams' "", game show "Moment of Truth", a reshot version of the sci-fi comedy "Boldly Going Nowhere" and Ron Moore's ""

FOX are running with the new season of their high-rating singing competition "" starting this week. "This is our high season," Reilly said. "We are coming right into our strength."
