Vampire Drama 'Twilight' Filling 'Half-Blood Prince' Original Date

The movie adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's bestselling novel has been bumped up to 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' original release date.

Following the footstep of Walt Disney Pictures' "" in filling the vacant slot left by "", Summit Entertainment's "" moved up its release date. Seizing the advantage of the empty fall release slot, the vampire romance movie pushed the date three weeks forward from December 12 to November 21.

Explaining about the changes of release date schedule, co-chairman and CEO of Summit Entertainment Rob Friedman stated that the bumping up offers them the chance to present the movie on more screens. He also noted, "When Warner Bros. decided to move 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' to the summer of 2009, we saw a unique opportunity to slot in our film which has been gaining tremendous awareness and momentum over the past several months."

Adding further, he insisted, "We by no means are trying to fill the shoes of the incredible POTTER franchise for 2008, rather we are just looking to bring the fans of Stephenie Meyer's incredible book series the film as soon possible from a programming perspective." In addition, with its new schedule, "Twilight" is going to be up against ' animation movie "Bolt".

A feature film adaptation to Stephenie Meyer's bestselling novel of the same name, "Twilight" tells the romantic tale of an unlikely romance between a girl and a vampire. Drawn into a pale and mysterious Edward Cullen without obvious reason, newcomer to the small town of Forks, the 17-year-old Bella Swan, soon discovers that her classmate is more than meets the eye, he is a 108-year-old vampire with a 17-year-old physique. As their unorthodox romance blossoms, danger rushes in. Cullen's arch nemeses come to town and they have set their eyes on Bella.
