AceShowbiz - Sad story of Christina Applegate's life drama keeps going on. Losing her ex-boyfriend who died from an apparent drug overdose early last month, the actress is confirmed to have been diagnosed with breast cancer. A representative for her issued an official confirmation about that matter Saturday, August 2.

"Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening," the representative said. "Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery. No further statement will be issued at this time."

The representative, furthermore, confirmed that Applegate will keep doing her regular shooting schedule on "Samantha Who?" during the treatment. The 36-year-old actress has been nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for the show in which she plays a woman who wakes from a coma with no memory of who she is.

She, in the meantime, would still join fellow celebs, like Meryl Streep, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Charlize Theron, and Sally Field, for a scheduled appearance in the Sept. 8 telethon Stand Up to Cancer, to be simultaneously broadcast on CBS, NBC and ABC.

Applegate's former boyfriend Lee Grivas was found dead by a neighbor in the living room of his Hollywood apartment back on July 1. She said she's profoundly saddened by his sudden death. "Lee was an incredible human being who was an extremely important and beautiful part of my life. He is missed beyond words. He touched so many and I feel much sadness for his mother, brother and all of his family and friends," so she said at that time.
