Academy Award-winner actress Reese Witherspoon turned a volunteer teacher at a school in New Orleans, Louisiana recently as part of the upcoming "Idol Gives Back" special.

AceShowbiz - Is a long-time supporter of Save the Children, an organization that helps children around the world through education, health care, and emergency aid, Reese Witherspoon puts her teaching skills at test by turning a volunteer teacher. The Academy Award-winning actress took time out of her hectic filming schedule, turning a volunteer teacher for a day for children at a school in New Orleans, Louisiana recently.
Spent time with the at-risk youth of New Orleans at the Children's Defense Fund Freedom School, Reese helped the kids with their assignments, read a story to the class, and posed for photographs with the kids. The mother of two is having her trip being filmed for an upcoming American Idol charity special Idol Gives Back.
Joining Reese for the U.S. TV special, which is set to air on April 9, are Bono, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Chris Daughtry, Stacy Ferguson, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, Maroon 5, Heart, and Gloria Estefan just to name a few.
As for this year, the money raised from the hit FOX reality show's charity will benefit the Children's Defense Fund, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Make It Right, Malaria No More, Save The Children, and the Children's Health Fund.
Children's Defense Fund Freedom School itself helps to foster community leadership skills for children of New Orleans.
