AceShowbiz - After the documentary here comes the feature adaptation.

Variety has come up with news informing that New Line Cinema is on the fast track to develop "The King of Kong" based on the lauded documentary flick set to open in theaters on August 17 this year.

The company is said to have already picked up "In Search of Captain Zero" scribe Michael Bacall to pen the script with the original's director Seth Gordon to helm. Bean Bauman, who last produced Jeff Wadlow's 2005 thriller "Cry Wolf", is set to carry the same duty in the project while Ed Cunningham is serving as the executive producer.

Picked by New Line and its sister company Picturehouse at this year's Slamdance Film Festival, the original centers on the competitive world of arcade game, in particular the efforts of Billy Mitchell and Steve Wiebe to attain the highest recorded score on the "Donkey Kong" arcade machine.
