Anna Nicole Smith has postponed her trip to Newfoundland to protest the killing of seals because of concerns about safety

AceShowbiz - Model and reality TV star Anna Nicole Smith has canceled her trip to Newfoundland to protest the killing of seals due to safety concern. She was actually scheduled to join the protest, held by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), in the Canadian province, but the group called off the plan after learning the beauty security could not be guaranteed.

Explaining this cancellation, PETA spokesperson Michael McGraw told The Associated Press Friday that they are afraid to put Smith in the position where she has to work with activists who are protesting on the ice floe last week and again this week, because of which seal hunters had become physically violent and actually attacked many of the protesters on the ice. On the other hand, Smith herself has issued a statement on www.furisdead.com, a PETA Web site, which urged people to contact Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin to protest the country's hunting of seals.

As an additional information, Smith has also agreed to become a gossip columnist for the National Enquirer, beginning with this week's edition, after previously refused Enquirer editor-in-chief Paul Field's offer to join his staff.
