AceShowbiz - Rapper C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, has sued State of Lousiana, alleges that he was denied his civil and constitutional rights when he lost his legal battle to overturn a second-degree murder conviction. He was actually been offered for a new trial by a judge who found "something wrong in the case, yet it was denied by the Appellate Court, which has never been done before in the history of Louisiana law."
The president of a local chapter of the NAACP who is also an attorney, Ernest Johnson, explained the lawsuit to reporters gathered at a Baton Rouge courthouse that the suit is based on the supposition that criminal defendants are not provided the same rights on appeal as civil defendants, and called it "discrimination." Moreover, C-Muder federal suit also revealed that the state of Louisiana has already had "a disproportionate number of African-Americans who are incarcerated."
Defending his client, C-Murder lawyer said they wanted a new trial because of the countless legal errors in the case, because of which his client was put in jail only based on the testimony of witnesses who admittedly perjured themselves without any physical evidences.
