Steel Magnolia Biography

news-detailsBefore starting her professional career in music, Meghan Linsey was a karaoke host at a Nashville bar where she met her boyfriend Joshua Scott Jones. After dating for quite some time, they formed a duo under the moniker Steel Magnolia for a singing competition "Can You Duet". They competed in the second season of the singing contest in 2009 and won the first place which led them to get signed by Big Machine Records in the same year.

Their debut single "Keep on Lovin' You" was released shortly after and became Top 5 hit on Billboard Country Singles chart. The song was included in the soundtrack album of star-studded movie "Valentine's Day". Also, it marked the highest charting single from the "Can You Duet" contestants - the first season's winner of Joey + Rory could only peak at No. 30 on the same chart with their single "Cheater, Cheater".

Following the success of "Keep on Lovin' You", Magnolia dropped a mini album, a self-titled one, in February 2010. During this period of time, they were nominated for Top New Vocal Duo at Academy of Country Music Awards but lost it to Brooks & Dunn.

On the heels of the extended play, this duo was scheduled to release their first studio album in September, but delayed it until January 11, 2011. The record is a mix of "Steel Magnolia [EP]" tracks and brand new materials including single "Just by Being You (Halo and Wings)". The song was released as a second single and became their second Top 40 single on Country Songs chart.
