The Matrix Resurrections is an upcoming science fiction action film that serves as the fourth installment in The Matrix franchise. Directed by Lana Wachowski (who wrote the screenplay with David Mitchell and Aleksandar Hemon), the film stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively. The film follows Neo as he returns to the Matrix after being freed from it in the previous film, The Matrix Revolutions. He is now living a normal life in San Francisco, but begins to experience strange occurrences that make him question his reality. He is then contacted by Trinity, who tells him that the Matrix has been rebuilt and that he is needed to save it from a new threat. Neo is reluctant to return to the Matrix, but eventually agrees to help Trinity. The film is scheduled to be released on December 22, 2021, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
