The Expanse is an American science fiction television series created by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, based on the novel series of the same name by James S. A. Corey. The series premiered on Syfy on December 14, 2015. The show follows the crew of the Rocinante, a salvage ship that becomes embroiled in a conflict between Earth, Mars, and the Belt, an asteroid belt that lies between the two planets. The first season of the show was met with critical acclaim, and it was renewed for a second season in January 2016. The second season is set to premiere on February 1, 2017.
