While Saperstein (Santino Fontana) undergoes emergency surgery, Harlee (Jennifer Lopez) confronts Wozniak (Ray Liotta), who insists Saperstein's fall was an accident. He also floats the idea that perhaps it was a blessing in disguise, since Saperstein was the informant. When Special Agent Baker (Leslie Silva) shows up to the department hearing for the Saperstein and Kovach incident, Wozniak takes her appearance as proof that the FBI lost an asset (which was Baker's goal all along).

Meanwhile, in hopes of finding Kovach's connection to the precinct, Stahl (Warren Kole) and Chen (Annie Chang) visit Miguel Zepeda to inquire about his relationship to Harlee and Kovach, but Zepeda stonewalls them. Next, Stahl and Chen visit Maxine, a woman who was friends with Zepeda's alleged victim and found her after she died, yet was never questioned in the investigation. Stahl shows her a picture of Kovach, and although Maxine claims not to know him, Stahl thinks she was coached by Wozniak to deny witnessing the murder.

At Saperstein's house, Tufo (Hampton Fluker) finds a federal immunity contract, which he takes as proof of Saperstein's betrayal. At the hospital, Wozniak admits to Harlee that he tried to kill Saperstein and asks for Harlee's help finishing him off. Harlee is horrified and implores Wozniak to leave it up to fate, which he promises her he'll do.

But after Tufo shows him the immunity contract, Wozniak retrieves a bag of explosives from his storage unit and plants it in the hospital, laying the groundwork for a diversion. Outside the hospital, Stahl confronts Harlee, insisting Wozniak framed Zepeda years ago and demanding to know why. Their conversation is cut short when Harlee notices the chaos caused by the bomb threat. Realizing what Wozniak intends to do, Harlee rushes in. But by the time she reaches Saperstein's room, it's too late to save him.
