Dawn (Michelle Nolden) has been growing suspicious of Charlie's (Michael Shanks) erratic behaviour and decides to do some digging into his recent case files, while Charlie himself reaches a breaking point with a Spirit who won't leave him alone, leading to a shocking development.
Alex (Erica Durance) is all set to perform a life-changing double lung transplant on a young Cystic Fibrosis patient when a traffic jam delays the arrival of his new lungs. Desperate, Alex reaches out to a former colleague and mentor who has developed an experimental piece of surgical equipment which could possibly save her patient's life -- if they can get it in time.
Meanwhile, Joel (Daniel Gillies) tries his best to help a bickering couple who have each been injured while trying to renovating their house so they can sell it and finance their divorce, while Maggie (Julia Taylor Ross) questions him about his relationship with Alex.
