Leslie pays her very busy mother a visit. After hovering for a couple of minutes, Leslie spills the beans that she has her own subcommittee now. Her mother is noticeably impressed. Leslie invites her to the committee's first forum and her mother says she'll try to make it. But, she reminds Leslie she's a very busy woman.
Leslie comes up with the idea of canvassing for people to take more interest in the pit. She splits up her subcommittee and she and Ann team up to canvass the neighborhood. The subcommittee has a hard time getting citizens to show interest in their public forum.
Tom grows frustrated working with Mark and April and decides to canvass on his own. He goes back to the office and starts flipping through his address book and placing calls. Tom wastes no time securing people to show up to the subcommittee's first forum.
Ann and Leslie return to Ann's house to rethink their strategy and find Mark, April and Andy playing to Rock Band. Mark and April immediately stop the playing when they spot Leslie at the door. Leslie storms out, as the rest of her subcommittee follows her. Leslie begins to doubt her town hall, but finds out that Ron has fast-tracked her agenda.
Leslie grows nervous of the impending forum, especially when she spots her mother in the audience. Ann has brought Andy along for support, as well. Leslie loses control of the forum when one citizen stands up against her park proposal and manages to get the audience to go against it, as well.
Mark manages to step in and save Leslie from more humiliation by telling the history of the property where the pit is located. But, once again, the forum takes a turn for the worse when Andy and Ann's neighbor interrupts the meeting to talk about Andy's rock music being played too loud at night. Leslie finds this a perfect time to take a five-minute break.
Ron informs Leslie that she must do all she can to avoid a vote on the park project. She takes the podium and comes up with the idea of a filibuster. After all, they can't vote if she talks forever. When the audience has their turn to speak, they end up running out of time. Leslie's plan works. The audience will have to return to the next meeting in order to cast a vote.
