Jan told Michael that the board had voted to close the Scranton branch. There would be a select group of employees that would get a severance package; the others would be going to work at the Stamford branch. She informed Michael that he would be one who would get a severance package.
Michael alerted the warehouse about the branch closing. The guys were not worried because Bob Vance had bought out the warehouse and would keep them on. Roy was worried what it was going to be like not working with Pam.
Dwight and Michael went on a road trip to find the CFO of Dunder Mifflin and ask why their branch was closing. Meanwhile, Jan informed Josh that he would be in charge of Dunder Mifflin Northeast, but he informed her he accepted a senior manager position at Staples. Jan was furious with Josh's move.
After the Josh fiasco, Jan returned back to Scranton to let the employees know they would not be out of a job. They were all relieved to find out that their jobs were no longer in danger. Back in Stamford, Karen and Andy were worried about their jobs and Jim was still contemplating going back to Scranton as the number two guy in charge.
Phyllis informed Jan that she heard Jim would be heading back to the Scranton branch. It immediately brought a smile to Pam's face. Roy paid Pam a surprised visit to let her know he was happy she wasn't going anywhere. Back in Stamford, Karen privately confided that she was beginning to have feelings for Jim.
Michael and Dwight were still parked outside the CFO's house. Michael was freaking out about the branch closing, until Dwight revealed a voicemail saying that the Scranton branch would stay open while the Stamford branch would close. Both men celebrated in the streets!
