Benson and Stabler investigate the death of a teenage girl who was hit by a cab. Warner says the victim had ligature marks on her wrists and ankles and had been starving for days before breaking free. During her escape, she wandered onto the road, where she met her death. Warner also tells detectives that their young victim had just recently given birth.

Stabler and Benson go to the farmers' market where the young girl was seen running. They found out her name was Carly and she belonged to Mission Farms, a work program for at-risk youth. SVU also finds out that Carly lived with her dad Patrick and her mother is dead. Stabler and Benson track Patrick down at a popular homeless gathering, under a bridge with his other children.

Benson and Stabler bring Patrick into the SVU and tell him that Carly is dead. They also want to know why he gave Carly and his son Micah away to Mission Farms for money. Patrick tells them he had no other options. He needed the money and his teenagers were the only ones who could find work. He's shocked and cries when Benson tells him that Carly also had a baby while she was away.

Micah tells Huang that 10 kids that lived at the Mission Farms and were forced into prostitution, starved and beaten. When one of the girls got pregnant, the kids would eat really well. He says Carly had a little baby boy, but never saw him again after he was born. He tells Huang that the last count of teenagers on the farm was six. He doesn't know what happened to the other four, including the three babies born at the farm.

Micah says he and Carly were very close on the farm and when she tried to escape, he snapped. He chased after her because he knew if she ran away, the other teens, including him, would be severely punished for her actions. Huang asks if maybe Carly was trying to get help and Micah begins to cry, saying he pushed her in traffic to try to keep her from running away, and now he's left feeling guilty.

Huang wants to give Micah's case to the FBI to handle, but Stabler and Benson both fear it will get buried. They go directly to their FBI insider, who has the ability to make both Benson and Stabler grand marshals in order to continue investigating the the case for the FBI. Meanwhile, Micah looks at some mug shots and indentifies the woman who picked him and his sister up as Victoria Reyes. All evidence appears to show that Victoria is under witness protection.

The FBI is able to promise Victoria immunity if she reveals whom she sold Micah and Carly to. She says she got a $1,000 each for the teens and she sold them to famers Julie and Liam Ryan. At the time, Liam told Victoria the kids were going to be used for labor, but she later found out they were turned into prostitutes. Victoria admits she sold a total of seven kids to the farmers.

Background checks prove that Victoria's story about the Ryans is correct. They had been on the run through a number of states and suspected of murdering a handful of their "workers" in Florida. Records show that they leased land from a foreclosed farm in upstate New York. Benson, Stabler and their FBI insider Chris raid the farm. Stabler arrests Liam and Julie as they try to escape. Chris and Benson search the farmhouse for the children.

Benson and Stabler find a group of kids chained up and drugged inside a bomb shelter. EMTs immediately start treating the kids, who appear to have been poisoned by cyanide. The EMTs can't say for sure say how many of the young victims will survive. Meanwhile, Julie and Liam are being hauled to jail and the FBI has seized a laptop computer that they hope will help answer their questions.

Back at the hospital, Patrick is by his son's bedside when he hears the news of the farmhouse raid. He tells Benson and Stabler he feels lost now that his daughter is dead and his son is the one who killed her. Stabler tells Patrick that charges won't be brought against Micah, and gives Patrick a name of a shelter for families in need. Patrick is grateful for all of their help. Stabler reminds him that Micah needs his father by his side.
