Bobby turns yellow when a middle school tradition turns on him!

In an attempt to go down in Tom Landry Middle School history, Bobby Hill tries out for the school mascot, the Landry Longhorn. After winning the coveted role, Bobby gets a rude awakening to the realities of the position. When playing the McMaynerbury Javelins, there is a tradition called the McMaynerbury Whuppin' where the Javelins' pep band gets to beat up the Longhorn when Landry is leading. Instead of taking the beating, Bobby sticks his tail between his legs and runs off the field from a stunned and angry crowd.

With the entire town now against him, Bobby comes up with a plan to salvage his -- and his father's -- tarnished reputation. He attempts to kidnap the Belton Armadillo, but has to stop because he realizes that Belton will try to steal the Longhorn. In a feeble salvage attempt, Bobby gets trapped inside the Longhorn costume container and subsequently gets stolen by Belton.

On the day of the big game against Belton, Bobby manages to escape the Belton storage room and capture the armadillo in front of the whole stadium. He then gains the reputation as the greatest mascot in Tom Landry Middle School history and begins a new tradition all his own: For stealing the armadillo, Bobby becomes the recipient of the first ever Belton Beating!
