In our pilot episode of "How to be a Gentleman", we meet our lead character, Andrew, who writes a column for a local paper about being a gentleman. He is the quintessential old fashioned guy. He believes in opening doors for ladies, and please and thank you. He is probably the only one left! He meets up with an old high school acquaintance -- actually kind of a nemesis -- Bert. Bert was a bully and tough guy in high school, and made Andrew's life a living hell. But today Bert owns a gym, and he and Andrew become unlikely friends. As the show progresses Bert is going to help Andrew become more of a man, and Andrew is going to help Bert become more of a gentleman. Andrew's family also plays a rather big part in the series. He is very close with his mother, played by Nancy Lanahan, and his sister and brother in law. His sister is strong willed and bossy and his brother in law is this endearing bloke from New Zealand, who always sees the bright side of every situation. In the pilot episode, Bert tries to get Andrew to ask his gorgeous neighbor out on a date. When he does and succeeds, he takes her to a nice restaurant. However, her ex boyfriend is their waiter, and she ends up making out with him on her date with Andrew. Bert takes Andrew to a strip club to give him a cheering up. Andrew is depressed, and in the end decides he has to join Bert's gym in an attempt to man up a little bit. This begins the friendship and odd couple of Bert and Andrew.
