Melinda attempts to cross over a ghost who is convinced he is Santa Claus and who is haunting a workaholic father. The overworked man, William Taylor, recently discovered that he may not be the biological father of his son, Riley. William had been abandoned by his own father, and has been keeping Riley at arms length pending paternity test results. After researching several dead-end theories, Melinda discovers that the Santa ghost is actually William's father, Alan. Alan was a successful entrepreneur until he had a nervous breakdown and gave everything away to kids, ala Santa Claus. Alan had always regretted abandoning William, and after explaining how he can break the cycle, William heeds Alan's advice and never looks at the paternity test results. He fully accepts Riley as his own. In the end, Alan chooses not to cross over, but to continue to do good deeds as a Santa ghost.
