Pratt tried to reach out to his gay brother by taking him out for breakfast. Pratt told his brother that he wanted to fix things between them to show he had no problem with his brother's homosexuality. Pratt apologized for messing up their relationship.

Things were getting tense at home between Sarah and Gates' father, Mike who were all living under the same roof. Gates was feeling the pressure because he just wanted to know if Sarah was his biological daughter and the results were lost in the mail.

A man was brought in complaining of chest pains. Kovac and Gates worked on him as the man frantically asked about his elderly father who he cared for. The patient wanted the doctors to notify his father about his whereabouts and when the father showed up, his main concern was his son, who couldn't talk because of all his tubes in his chest. The father pleaded with his son, Danny to get better.

A man driving a flower van lost control of his vehicle and smashed into a wall near the hospital. He managed to swerve and almost hit a patient that Sam was wheeling out. The flower man spoke Armenian and Abby couldn't find any Armenian speaking staff around. Just then, they were interrupted by one of the man's passengers, a little boy who credited the driver for saving his life.

Danny's heart was failing. Kovac was doing all he could to revive him as Danny's father pleaded to not let his son die. Kovac had the difficult task of telling Danny's father they had done all they could and Danny had died. A social worker would be called in to help take care of him.

Sam was enjoying the flirtation of a very handsome cop who was in the hospital being treated for an injury she gave him during self-defense class. He asked Sam to lock his dislocated knee herself. When she did, he passed out from the pain.

Neela told the Armenian patient he was free to be discharged. His first concern was the boys that were also in the van and his second concern was getting Neela to go on a date with him. She shrugged it off. After that, she found Sarah in the ER. Sarah took Neela aside and asked her about the HPV vaccination.

Kovac and Gates had to break the news to Danny's father, Mr. Rutley, that they had to send him to a nursing home. He seemed confused and didn't want to go. Because of his Alzheimer's disease, he had totally forgotten about his son's passing. Kovac and Gates had to tell the Mr. Rutley again that his son had died.

After Neela notified Gates of Sarah's request, he felt it was time to talk to her about growing up. He didn't know what her rush was to get the vaccination considering she was only 12-years-old. She felt Tony was treating her like a little kid.

The ER became chaotic when the Armenian patient's brother began yelling at him for destroying their business van. Pratt explained that the man was speeding in the van to get two sick kids in the backseat to a hospital.

A confused Mr. Rutley had asked about Danny once again. Kovac was forced to lie and tell the man that Danny wanted his father in the new home. Mr. Rutley's main concern was that his son would visit. Mr. Rutley went on and on about how great his son was and Kovac just listened. It made him think about his own father in Croatia.

Gates was furious when his father came back to the apartment completely intoxicated. Especially when Gates gave Mike one hundred dollars to buy groceries and instead he went to the bar. Gates was tired of his father's excuses and told him he had to move out. The entire argument had an emotion toll on Gates and made him think about his relationship with Sarah.

After this whole time of thinking that his paternity results were lost in the mail, Gates discovered that Sarah was keeping them from him. She was saddened to tell Gates that he wasn't her father. Gates said he would see what he could do so Sarah could still live with him.
