Kovac told Sam that he was thinking about going back to Croatia on vacation to visit his family. Sam thought it was a great idea and informed him she was already looking at new apartments for her and Alex.

Neela, Ray, and Abby were all taking new interns under their wings. It was easy for the interns to get confused on their first day because each doctor was giving them different advice on how to do things.

Pratt was having a busy day at the ER that involved a pregnant woman who was in a car accident and about to have a breach birth. He was not pleased to see his estranged father in the waiting room of the hospital. Pratt began learning about his half siblings he had no idea existed. Pratt told him now they he had met his dad, he wanted him out of his life.

Ray was arguing with Dr. Coburn about their pregnant patient, Claire. Claire was refusing to have any kind of surgery to save her baby's life, but Ray thought that since Claire was just a surrogate mother, the real woman who should have a voice should be the woman she was carrying the baby for. Coburn said as long as the baby was in Claire's body, she got all final say in what happens.

Abby was taking care of a young boy who was having bad reaction to something he took. His two friends came by looking for Liam, but clammed up when Abby started asking questions about what their friend ingested. They said they ran away because the kids skipped school and wanted to avoid punishment. Meanwhile, Liam's condition was getting worst.

Abby discovered that Liam was from a family of vegetarians and early that day consumed two massive cheeseburgers. She went on a hunch and guessed that Liam had a metabolic disorder and that explained his diet. She was right and was able to save Liam's life.

Pratt had a hard day at work, especially when he lost a patient and later found out that the young woman had been estranged from her mom. The mother told Pratt that they wasted too much precious time being angry at one another. This prompted Pratt to look at his own life. He decided to attend the swim meet of his newly discovered half brother, Chazz.

Claire had a difficult birth and when her son was born, he was not breathing. Ray was still giving attitude to Claire for not having a C-section and was kicked out of the OR. He told the parents that Claire was having the baby for the news and said their son had possible neurological damage. The father wanted nothing to do with his son after hearing about his damage.

While the doctors in the ER were looking for Ray, he was still in Labor and Delivery with Claire's baby. He didn't want to leave his side. He told Dr. Coburn that the baby didn't have any visitors, not even his own parents. Ray didn't think the baby should spend his first night alone.

After Chazz's swim meet, Pratt decided to introduce himself. Chazz was blown away that he had a half sibling and the two men shook hands. The guy's father interrupted the conversation and was pleased to see his two sons were talking. He invited Pratt along for the family dinner but he declined.
