Cougar Town Episode 1.11 Rhino Skin

This is the episode you've been waiting for. Courteney Cox reunites with one of her old friends! That's "friends" with a little "f" because we're assuming Courteney and guest star Lisa Kudrow are totally buddy-buddy in real life. If we used "friends" with a big "F," well that could be perceived as a shout-out for a hit sitcom that aired on another network. And nobody wants that. Now, onto the show.

Jules and Ellie have an appointment with the best dermatologist in town. Unfortunately, Dr. Amy Evans (that's Lisa) is also the meanest woman in the world. Jules tries to counter Dr. Evans's evil ways by killing her with kindness. It doesn't work. The doc spends the majority of the session making Jules feel inferior. Things go from bad to worse when Jules pops by Bobby's place and meets his new girlfriend. Yep, you guessed it. It's Dr. Amy.

Amy continues her assault on Jules' character. This woman is just not right for Bobby, so Jules tells her to back off. Of course, that doesn't work. In addition to worrying about Bobby's relationship, Jules is having issues with her own new beau. She's still dating Jeff even though she's a little intimidated by him because he's so smart. We're talking Good Will Hunting smart. Wonder if he likes caramels.

Jules drags Jeff over to Bobby's boat to take on Dr. Amy once again, as she totally brings out all of her insecurities. Speaking of feeling insecure, Laurie stops by Grayson's bar for a beer where a rich guy named Smith (yes, that's his first name) hits on her. Laurie is a big fan of wealthy guys who have a last name-first name thing going on. But when Smith invites her to a political fundraiser, she blows it off because she's afraid she'll embarrass herself.

Grayson tries to convince Laurie that Smith approached her in the bar because he genuinely likes her. He says, "No man in the history of the universe has ever said, you know, I met this really cool, stone-cold hottie, but I don't want to get naked and do awful things to her because she doesn't know about politics." We're inclined to agree. So is Laurie. She gives the guy who has a last name for a first name a call. As it turns out, Smith's last name is Frank. So he also has a first name-last name thing happening, which is also very hot to Laurie.

Andy takes it upon himself to teach Travis about women. This concept may not be as ridiculous as it sounds. Think about it. Andy is a fairly schlubby guy with a hot wife. He must have done something right to make that happen. Sure enough, Andy has ways of manipulating the many moods of Ellie so that things will work to his advantage. Travis is impressed. He bows to the master. Yes, we're still talking about Andy.

One of the lessons Andy teaches Travis is the fact that women sometimes like to date men they feel superior to so they can't get hurt. That could be what's happening with Dr. Amy and Bobby. It could also describe Jules' relationship with Jeff. Remember how we said she was feeling insecure because he's so smart? Well, that's still a little true. But that's not going to stop Jules from being herself.

As they sit in bed playing Scrabble, Jeff spells out a seven-letter word on the board. For those of you who aren't familiar with tile-based board games, let's just say that's not an easy thing to do. Jules stares at her letters and admits to Jeff that she's probably gonna go a much easier route by spelling out a bunch of three-letter words. Jeff says he's okay with that.

Jules spells out the word "zit." It sounds gross, but you get a bunch of points for using a "z," especially when it's in a triple-letter score. Jules takes the lead in the game. Then she shakes the board to the point where the letters fly off to effectively end the game. When Jeff asks why she did that, Jules admits that she wanted to quit while she was ahead. Pretty smart, Jules. Then she pulls her hot new boyfriend close for a long, intense kiss that will likely lead to a night filled with passion. Yes, Jules Cobb is a genius.
