There's new radio show hitting the airwaves called "Dear Mom" and Nora Walker is up for the title role. The other finalist for the gig is Dr. Alexandra Kirby (guest star Debra Monk), a well-known author/PHD with a larger-than-life personality. Dr. Alex has a new book titled "Moron-proof Mothering" and is a wee bit intimidating, so Nora is nervous to learn they'll be auditioning together during a live radio broadcast.

Kevin shows up at the station to serve as Nora's entourage. He gives her a pep talk speech right out of Rocky. Guess Nora isn't into Stallone flicks, as she doesn't get the reference. Anyway, the point of Kevin's speech is that America loves the underdog. So Nora steps into the radio ring. Go for it, Nora! Eye of the tiger!

Nora gets off to a rocky start (no pun intended). Dr. Alex does a lot of talking, but Nora is in her element when Devon from L.A. calls in asking how to bake a cherry pie. Devon is actually Kevin calling from his cell. Dr. Alex jumps in to ask if this is an "apology pie." The answer is yes. He's been distant to Scotty and hopes to make it up to him with pastries. Kevin ends up spilling his guts to Dr. Alex as Nora sits by silently. Oops.

A lonely Justin makes a surprise visit to the Ojai house where he interrupts a make out session on the couch between Kitty and Jack. Justin is impressed at the advice Jack doles out regarding his situation with Rebecca. He asks if he ever talks to Kitty about Robert. That would be no.

Kitty comes clean to Justin about the fact that she and Jack are a little bit more than friends. Justin couldn't be happier. He believes this guy is not his sister's type at all, which makes him exactly what she needs right now. And with that, Justin opts to give them a little privacy and heads home. Actually, he heads off to get a shake at the place he and Rebecca used to go.

A super-cute, super-friendly girl named Vanessa gives Justin his tasty shake on the house. She guesses he could use a kind gesture from a stranger, as he has the look of someone coming off a breakup. Vanessa asks Justin if he'd like to join her at a bar later to hear a band play. Justin doesn't drink, but he does like music. It's a date!

Back at the Ojai house, Kitty and Jack look to take things to the next level. But Kitty freaks out when things get too intimate. She needs to talk to someone who will understand. Fortunately, that someone is smack-dab in the middle of a live radio show. And it's not Dr. Alex. You can hear a pin drop as Nora doles out her heartfelt words to her daughter. Even Dr. Alex is left speechless.

Nora's words hit home with Kitty on the phone, Kevin at the station and Justin listening on the radio. Justin realizes he's not ready to date the shake girl. Kitty realizes she's still grieving and that's okay. It's also okay that Jack shows up to reveal that he used to be a city boy. Maybe they're not as different as she thought. Nora even ends up giving advice to Dr. Alex, who is estranged from her kids. Bottom line: Nora gets the "Dear Mom" job!

Sarah enlists Scotty's help to whip up a dish for a picnic with Luc. Her plan is to reenact their first date. Sarah's been a little concerned because it's been weeks since they…you know. She's really worried after she accidentally taps into a phone conversation in which Luc sounds as if he's making plans for a liaison with another woman. Sarah knows exactly where they're planning to meet.

Sarah drags Scotty to a hotel pool where she storms inside a private tent to catch Luc red-handed in the middle of a business meeting. Sarah realizes that Luc hasn't painted a thing since he started modeling. The job was supposed to be a way to support his passion, but now the passion is gone.

Luc shows Sarah what he bought after he got his first check. It's a ring. An engagement ring. He never gave it to her because he knows that he's no longer the man she knew during their first picnic. But he wants to be. And if he can be that man again, Luc wants to know if Sarah will be his wife. Woo hoo!

After soaking in his mom's words, Kevin believes he and Scotty should adopt a child. Scotty thinks it's a great idea, but he isn't smiling. Something is on his mind. Something serious. It's another "you could hear a pin drop moment" when Scotty admits to Kevin that he cheated. Anyone else feel like they just got sucker punched?
