The 16 players have been chosen and head to The Biggest Loser Ranch. The theme this season is second chances. The contestants are happy to finally meet Bob and Jillian, but are a little surprised when the bus drops them off at the beach to meet with Ali first.

Ali lines the players up at a starting line, where they will race the last mile from last season's marathon. The winner will not only win immunity for themselves, but immunity for their partner, whom they get to choose. Most of the players are nervous, because a mile-long race seems impossible. But, before the race can begin, Ali introduces everybody to the 16th player, Dan from last season.

The race starts off close, but in the end, it's Daniel who wins. Most of the players were just happy to cross the finish line at all. Tracy falls to the ground and realizes she can't get up because of her weak knees and tells the rest of the players to go on without her. The rest of the players walk Tracy across the finish line.

Tracy crosses the finish line and collapses again. Medics are called to the scene, but Tracy isn't responsive and the rest of the players begin to grow more worried. Everyone watches as Tracy is transported by helicopter to the local hospital and it is a wake-up call to the rest of the players on how out of shape they are.

The players all arrive back on the ranch and share their stories of why they are there and why they deserve a second chance. The players break down in tears when they hear Abby's story of losing her entire family in a car accident. Her story touches home, especially to the players who have children of their own.

After everyone shares their stories, Ali tells them it's time to pick teams, starting with Daniel, who picks Shay. One by one, the players choose the partners they want to be by their side during the competition.

Bob and Jillian meet up with the players at the weigh-in room. Everybody is so happy to meet with the trainers -- who are there to save their lives. Now it is time for the weigh-in and the trainers are shocked by the numbers they are seeing, especially Shay, who weighs in as the heaviest contestant ever on the show at 476 pounds.

Once the players arrive at the gym, the trainers announce that both of them will be training the players this season. Bob and Jillian grow increasingly impatient with their players for not putting in the effort. Especially Shay, who decides to walk away from the gym instead of working out.

Shay steps outside and cries as Jillian fills Bob in on what happened. Jillian says that Shay is receiving too much attention for her outburst and she's just going to leave her outside. Shay has a change of heart and mind and is determined to get back in the gym and finish her workout, and Jillian is waiting there to grill her and work her out.

The players all take a trip to meet with Dr. H about their health. The results are staggering for all the contestants. The players are learning facts about their bodies and health and as they discover more about the harm they have been causing to themselves, they begin to break down.

The players return to the gym ready to sweat out their frustrations in the last-chance workout. Bob and Jillian can't wait to show everybody that this workout isn't like anything they have seen on television. It's real life.

The more the players want to give up during their last chance workout, the more the trainers get in their faces and remind them why they are on the ranch in the first place. One by one, Jillian tries to tear down the walls the players are putting up.

It's time for the weigh-in and before it can begin, Ali tells the players that only one person will be eliminated that week. Daniel and Shay weigh in first because they have immunity. Both are happy with their results. Now, the rest of the teams have to find out their results. The players are shocked with how much weight they are dropping.

While most of the players credit their families at home for being the source of motivation, for Abby it is something different. She tells the players that death would be a much easier way out for her, but she has to be there for herself and that's why she pushed herself to lose 15 pounds during her first week on the ranch. Hearing Abby's speech causes Jillian to tear up and she says Abby's attitude makes her want to be stronger.

At the end of the weigh-in, the black team of Julio and Alexandra are below the yellow line and up for elimination. The rest of the teams are forced to vote on whom they should eliminate. But, in the end, Alexandra will be going home.
