Kristin was still in shock with the results of the elimination round and Laura being sent home. But, not as shocked as Tara was about her partner going home. Helen checked up on Tara, who was crying on the couch. She was beginning to doubt how she was going to move on in the competition without Laura there with her.

Jillian went to check on Tara and was given the cold shoulder. Tara blamed Jillian for telling Mike to vote Laura off the ranch. Jillian blew up at Tara because she had reasons for wanting Laura to go home. She pointed out it was not safe for Laura to continue rigorous exercise on the ranch and it was not fair to the other players. She called Tara selfish.

Bob was so relieved to see Kristin had survived the elimination. He told his team to head to the gym so he could have a private conversation with her. He had noticed her spirit had been down and he wanted to remind her that she deserved all the success she was finding on the ranch.

The contestants met up to play the food and fitness trivia quiz. Ali was going to give them all four trivia questions, then check in with the experts at Good Housekeeping magazine to see what the correct answers would be. The winner would get a fully expensed three-day trip to New York City with deluxe accommodations.

The trivia challenge came down to Kristin and Mike playing in sudden-death overtime. The final question was about a fast food fried fish sandwich and Mike was only off by five calories when guessing the totasl. Kristin was shocked she had lost the challenge.

The next challenge had the teams in cages, raised 45 feet up in the air and holding a rope. The rope's job was to keep the players suspended in the air; the moment the rope was released, the cage would drop to the ground. The player that held on the longest would win $10,000, or the winner could trade in the money for a one-pound advantage.

Towards the end of the challenge, it came down to Helen and Tara. Helen pleaded with Tara to let her win the challenge so she had a fighting change to stay in the game, but Tara didn't budge and just stayed focused. After over an hour of participating, Helen finally let go of the rope and Tara won the challenge. Tara had a few days to mull over what she wanted to accept as her prize.

After finding out that his team did so poorly during the trivia quiz about nutrition, Bob wanted them to carry around a small camcorder and record all the food they were preparing for a day. Afterwards, they watched the video back with Bob. Bob had a lot of notes about their meals, especially because they weren't getting enough calories for the day.

It was time for the last-chance workout and Bob made it intense for his team. Bob had the players all over the gym, trying out as many workouts as they could. There was a time when the players dreaded last-chance workouts, but now they were embracing them.

Meanwhile, Jillian was expecting her team to put in just as much energy for their last-chance workout. She had them running the treadmills at level 10. Helen had a hard time keeping up, but Jillian wasn't about to be hearing any excuses.

Jillian pointed out that now players weren't only losing weight for themselves, but for all the viewers who watch them every week on the show. Mike was getting angrier and angrier each time Jillian pushed him. She wanted to get that frustration out of Mike because it had been brewing inside him for so long.

Jillian wanted to get through to Mike and have him start expressing his true feelings about his weight. He told Jillian that he had nobody to blame but himself, but she felt he did have the right to put some of the blame on his family providing the food he was eating. She encouraged Mike to open up to his dad about how he'd felt growing up.

With Jillian's encouragement, Mike went to talk to his dad about his feelings. Ron agreed with everything Mike was saying and felt terrible for not being concerned with his weight growing up. Ron told Mike that it was difficult for them to tell Mike to get a hold of his weight when he wasn't doing it himself. Mike fully understood what his dad was saying.

It was time for the weigh-in and time to hear what Tara had chosen as her prize for winning the challenge. She decided to take a risk and chose the $10,000 prize money. Jillian couldn't believe Tara would choose money over a one-pound advantage this close to the finals, but Tara was still happy with her choice. The risk paid off because Tara lost five pounds.

At the end of the weigh-in it was Helen and Kristin who fell below the yellow line. Kristin was completely shocked she had gained a pound over the week. Ron had promised he was going to keep her on the ranch with his vote, but Mike, who viewed Kristin as a threat in the game, couldn't say the same. The elimination was a tie and since Kristin had the lowest percentage of weight lost, she automatically had to go home.
