Kicking off the international film festival, the 'Puss In Boots' couple climbs a giant pair of boots to promote their new movie.

AceShowbiz - Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas kicked off the Cannes Film Festival in style on Wednesday, May 11 by parading along a pier and climbing a giant pair of boots to promote their new movie. The actors are in the French Rivera to plug their upcoming animated blockbuster "Puss In Boots", a spin-off from the successful "Shrek" franchise which is due in cinemas later this year.

They greeted reporters at the famed movie event on a Cannes pier which was decorated with a massive pair of boots reminiscent of those worn by Banderas' feisty feline character in the film. They posed for pictures before climbing to the top of the giant structure to wave to the world's press.

Hayek also took time to laugh with journalists about how her animated role as a cat is big a step forward for her, joking, "When I started out, Hispanic roles were very limited. Roles were very limited. There were one or two kinds of characters you used to do. Now we get to play the cats! It's OK to be a Hispanic, even if you are a cat."
