Barrett was on his way to the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles when security officers allegedly found a gun in his carry-on luggage. He was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon and attempting to take the gun onto an airplane.

On Wednesday, Barrett admitted the first charge after prosecutors agreed to drop the two other charges in a plea agreement. He is facing up to 10 years behind bars when he is sentenced in June.
