AceShowbiz - Michael Douglas' wife Catherine Zeta-Jones struggled to control her emotions when she learned her husband had beaten cancer and broke down in tears of joy. The "Wall Street" star has declared he's won his battle with the deadly disease, six months after he was diagnosed with stage four throat cancer.

Douglas admits the news has yet to "really sink in", although his actress wife couldn't keep the tears from falling when doctors told them he had overcome the illness. He tells People magazine, "She had a good cry when she heard. I can't tell you I was jumping up and clicking my heels. For me, it will probably be two or three months before it will really sink in and feel good."

The couple celebrated Douglas' health by taking its two children, Dylan, 10, and Carys, seven, out for a fancy meal at a New York restaurant last week on January 6. The actor says, "We dined on oysters and toasted with Shirley Temples (non-alcoholic cocktails)."

In a separate interview on America's "Today" show on Tuesday, January 11, Douglas admitted he will still need to undergo regular check-ups over the next two months to ensure the cancer doesn't return.
