AceShowbiz - "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps" has proved to be big business at the U.K. box office - the sequel has topped the chart with $1.7 million in takings. Oliver Stone's sequel to his Oscar-winning 1987 movie, with Michael Douglas reprising his role as greedy Gordon Gekko, made big bucks at the U.S. box office last month and has followed suit in Britain.
The film shot to the top of the chart with last week's earnings, seeing off competition from Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel's romantic comedy "Life as We Know It", which debuted at number two with $1.5 million. Zac Efron's "Charlie St. Cloud" opened in third place with $965,052, followed by "The Other Guys" at four and "The Town" at five.
