AceShowbiz - "The Sound of Music" star Christopher Plummer has joined the cast of David Fincher's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)" remake. The British actor will play Henrik Vanger, the ailing tycoon who hires Daniel Craig's Mikael Blomkvist to solve the mystery of his niece's disappearance.
Rooney Mara, Robin Wright Penn and "Mamma Mia!" star Stellan Skarsgaard will also appear in the new film which is an English language adaptation of the first installment in Stieg Larsson's best-selling "Millenium" series, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo."
Columbia Pictures which has picked up the distribution rights will drop it on December 21, 2011 in the United States.
Another movie of Plummer which will be released next year is "Priest". Production has been completed on this thriller but release date has been pushed back several times and now is set to May 13.
