AceShowbiz - "Marley & Me" actor Alec Mapa has become a father after adopting a child with his husband. The 45-year-old gay comedian wed his longtime partner Jamison Hebert in 2008, when same sex marriage was briefly made legal in California, and the couple recently added to the family after taking in a five-year-old boy.

Mapa broke the news during an appearance on U.S. talk show "The View" on Friday, July 23 stating, "We became foster adopt parents this year. My husband's white, my son's black, I'm Asian!" Gay marriage was outlawed in the state of California following the Proposition 8 ruling just months after its legalization.

On another news, Alec Mapa, who was awarded the prestigious Davidson Valentini GLAAD Award for promoting equal rights for the LGBT community, is tipped to host the 12th annual GAYVN Awards, scheduled to take place at the Castro Theater in San Francisco on September 24.
