AceShowbiz - Actress Neve Campbell has thrown her support behind a campaign to stop the extraction of oil from Canada's beaches, after seeing the "devastating" effect on the environment. The "Scream" star narrates new film "Dirty Oil", which highlights the negative impact of the oil industry in her native country.

And seeing how tar is extracted from sands on Canadian beaches left Campbell so appalled, she's determined to raise awareness of the issue. She tells Britain's Daily Express, "I was invited to see what was going on there and speak to some of the people affected and I was really overwhelmed."

"It's devastating for the environment, and devastating for the First Nations (the indigenous peoples of Canada). I was truly appalled by what I saw. For me it's about helping them have a voice."
