AceShowbiz - Former "The Wire" star Idris Elba was left homeless during the breakdown of his marriage. The British actor was wed to Dormowa Sherman and they have a seven-year-old daughter, Isan, together. 37-year-old Elba admits the relationship unraveled while he was struggling to find work, and he ended up sleeping in his car while he attempted to land an acting job.
He tells Britain's Now magazine, "I was going through a really tough time some years ago. I couldn't get an acting job and my marriage was in a horrible place, so I ended up homeless. I slept rough in my brown Chevrolet Astro van for eight weeks."
And Idris Elba recently kicked start his acting career by documenting troubles which are faced by youth of modern Britain. On his project, he shared, "I grew up around people who have gone through hardship and crime and I knew people who were criminals. My character in The Wire harvests kids who have come out of school and into crime. But there are a lot of talented kids out there who just need a foot in the door."
