AceShowbiz - The Testaments has officially been renewed for a second season by Hulu, the streaming service announced on Wednesday. This renewal comes just one week before the first season finale is set to premiere on May 27 at 3 a.m. ET, and shortly after the release of the penultimate episode.
The series is a continuation of the story established in The Testaments novel by Margaret Atwood, published in 2019. It follows the lives of two teenagers, Agnes and Daisy, as they navigate their education at an elite preparatory school designed to groom future wives within the dystopian world of Gilead. Agnes is portrayed by Chase Infiniti, while Lucy Halliday plays Daisy. The school is overseen by Aunt Lydia, reprised by Ann Dowd, who also appeared in the original The Handmaid's Tale.
The Testaments explores how the bond between Agnes and Daisy becomes a pivotal force that challenges and potentially changes their past, present, and future circumstances. The supporting cast features Mabel Li, Brad Alexander, Isolde Ardies, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, and Eva Foote, adding depth to the storyline.
Executive production credits include original The Handmaid's Tale star Elisabeth Moss, who has also made a brief appearance in the continuation series. Despite the renewal announcement, Hulu has not yet provided a premiere date for the upcoming second season of The Testaments.
Fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter of this powerful narrative can look forward to more episodes that continue to expand the universe of Gilead. The renewal confirmation was shared on Hulu’s official Instagram page accompanied by the caption: "A secret we couldn't keep any longer." This announcement ensures that audiences will soon revisit the compelling and intense world portrayed in The Testaments.
