AceShowbiz - The iconic rock band Journey is expanding their Final Frontier North American tour by adding 40 additional dates to their itinerary, making their farewell journey even longer than originally planned.
The tour, which had previously included 28 shows, will now feature a total of 68 concerts across North America. The newly announced dates are set to begin on September 12 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and will conclude with a final performance on November 28 at the Chase Center in San Francisco, the band’s hometown.
Journey is known for hits like "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" and has been touring extensively this year. The Final Frontier tour resumes after a short break, kicking off again on May 15 in Tampa, Florida.
Tickets for the additional shows will be available for artist presale starting May 13 at noon local time using the code FRONTIER. General public sales will begin on Friday at 10 a.m.
The announcement comes amidst some recent internal tensions within the band. Co-founder and lead guitarist Neal Schon addressed rumors that singer Arnel Pineda was twice blocked from leaving the band, calling such reports false and clarifying that recent press speculation does not tell the full story. Schon did not specify which reports he was responding to but sought to ease concerns among fans.
A few days prior, an article by Rolling Stone featured statements from Pineda, who joined Journey in 2007 as the replacement for original lead vocalist Steve Perry. Rolling Stone reported that Pineda nearly declined to join the band for their farewell tour and was not consulted before the tour’s extensive 60-date schedule was booked. Despite these issues, the band appears to have reached an understanding and has continued touring through the spring.
Fans can look forward to an extended run of performances spanning numerous cities across the United States and Canada. The tour dates cover major arenas and cities including Tampa, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Atlantic City, Buffalo, Chicago, and Toronto, among many others, culminating in the final concert in San Francisco.
