AceShowbiz - Doja Cat has announced she is contemplating a significant break from her music career following the conclusion of her current world tour.
In an exclusive cover story with Elle UK, the 30-year-old rapper shared that she plans to step back from the music scene for three years once her "Tour Ma Vie" wraps up in December 2026. This decision reflects her desire to focus on personal interests beyond music.
Doja Cat explained that she wants to spend time on other creative pursuits such as painting and home design, mentioning plans to furnish the upper area of her home, which has remained empty for the past four to five years. She expressed a strong need to simply “do whatever” and live more freely outside the demands of her career.
Her announcement comes amid one of the most ambitious touring periods of her career. After releasing her fifth studio album Vie in September 2025, she launched the extensive "Tour Ma Vie" in November 2025. Currently performing across Europe, she is scheduled to return to North America in October 2026. Despite the ongoing tour, Doja Cat is already planning her time away from music, highlighting how drained she feels.
Unlike typical statements from artists experiencing burnout, Doja Cat is not apologetic or framing her decision as a result of depression or hardship. Instead, she straightforwardly emphasizes the importance of taking space to live a more normal life and be present in her personal creativity and environment.
Having spent the majority of her adult life in the music industry since her breakthrough eight years ago, Doja Cat has earned a well-deserved period of rest and reinvention, choosing to prioritize her well-being and creative freedom beyond the spotlight.
