Responding to backlash, Young Thug took to Instagram Stories to clarify his perspective. He explained that he distanced himself from rapper YFN Lucci because of conflicts involving Rich Homie Quan at that time. Additionally, Young Thug stated that Quan ultimately stepped away from their friendship, feeling he was "bigger alone."
Defending his loyalty, Young Thug insisted no one could accuse him of switching allegiances, calling himself "the definition of loyalty" in his online remarks.

Reflecting on the loss, Young Thug told Adin Ross last October, "We don't speak on the dead. R.I.P. the boy Quan. I wish we could have made amends before he died."
