AceShowbiz - A jury in Tampa, Florida, has found four men guilty of the 2024 murder of Julio Foolio, whose real name was Charles Jones.
On Friday, Isaiah Chance, Sean Gathright, and cousins Rashad Murphy and Davion Murphy were convicted of first-degree premeditated murder for fatally shooting Julio Foolio outside a Holiday Inn hotel. The rapper was celebrating his 26th birthday at the time of the attack.
In addition to the fatality, three other individuals were injured during the shooting incident. Prosecutors linked the killing to an ongoing gang conflict tied to Jacksonville. They argued that the suspects planned the attack after Julio Foolio posted on Instagram to promote his birthday events in Tampa.
Evidence presented at trial included surveillance footage, cellphone records, and shell casing analysis that connected the defendants to the crime. Assistant State Attorney Michelle Doherty explained that Chance and Alicia Andrews, who is identified as his girlfriend and previously convicted of manslaughter in October 2025, tracked the rapper and his group throughout the night at local clubs before the shooting occurred.
Authorities contend that later, Gathright and the Murphy cousins opened fire on Julio Foolio and his entourage outside the hotel premises.
During the ninth day of the trial, prosecutors showed the jury footage of Sean Gathright attempting to escape an interrogation room through a ceiling vent after his arrest.
Following the verdict, State Attorney Suzy Lopez remarked that the guilty decision delivers accountability and justice for the family of Charles Jones.
Because first-degree murder in Florida is a capital felony, the convicted men face either life imprisonment or the death penalty. The penalty phase of the trial is scheduled to begin on the upcoming Monday, when jurors will determine the final sentences for Chance, Gathright, and the Murphy cousins.
