AceShowbiz - Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald, and David Harewood are set to star in the second season of the acclaimed legal drama War, which returns on Sky and HBO following its initial launch.
The series, created by George Kay, who also created Hijack, centers on two of London’s top rival law firms, Cathcarts and Taylor & Byrne, as they face off in high-profile legal battles. The show explores the intense competition between the firms, where each side is confident of victory, but as cases escalate and alliances break down, reputations and careers hang in the balance.
War was initially commissioned for two seasons ahead of its premiere, with the first installment starring Sienna Miller and Dominic West. That season focuses on a headline-grabbing divorce case involving tech mogul Morgan Henderson (West) and international film star Carla Duval (Miller), and is scheduled to debut later this year.
For season two, the plot will shift to a sensational defamation lawsuit. Tomei takes on the role of Avery Reed, while Macdonald plays Jo MacNeil, and Harewood appears as Jefferson Allen. The cast also includes Richard Schiff as Elliott Wyatt.
Additional cast members joining the new season are Claire Skinner, Omari Douglas, Kadiff Kirwan, Douglas Booth, Charles Edwards, Luca Pasqualino, Rebecca Front, Alexandra Maria Lara, Linus Roache, Violet Braeckman, Sasha Behar, Sid Phoenix, Cornelius Booth, and Megan Channell.
The production is a collaboration between New Pictures, known for projects like Catherine the Great and Gone, and Kay’s Observatory Pictures, in partnership with Sky and HBO. George Kay serves as the lead writer, with other episodes penned by Kelly Jones, Jess Brittain, Catherine Shepherd, Yemi Oyefuwa, and Krissie Ducker. The series’ lead director is Ben Taylor.
War will be broadcast on Sky and the streaming service NOW across the U.K., Ireland, and Italy. It will also air on Sky and WOW in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, and be available on HBO and HBO Max in the U.S. The show will stream on HBO Max in Australia and Asia. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution will manage the series’ international sales.
This high-stakes legal drama continues to build anticipation as it prepares to expand its storylines and star power in its upcoming season, promising to deliver gripping courtroom confrontations and complex character dynamics.
