AceShowbiz - The Cannes Film Festival will welcome back acclaimed director Ken Loach after a three-year absence with a special screening of his Spanish Civil War drama Land and Freedom. This presentation is part of the newly introduced Cinéma de Plage strand, featuring nightly open-air film screenings on Macé Beach, located opposite the prestigious Majestic Hotel.
The festival has programmed a total of 11 films for this outdoor series, which aims to offer audiences a unique cinematic experience under the stars. Among the highlights is a 40th anniversary screening of Top Gun, set to be attended by Motion Picture Association (MPA) CEO Charles H. Rivkin. This event celebrates the enduring popularity of the 1986 blockbuster.
In addition to these, the lineup includes the classic political thriller All The President's Men, originally screened in competition at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival. This film stars Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman and remains a significant cinematic work related to investigative journalism and American politics.
The Cinéma de Plage initiative offers festival-goers an opportunity to enjoy a diverse range of films in an open-air setting, enriching the overall Cannes experience beyond the traditional theater screenings. With iconic titles and celebrated filmmakers featured, the program promises memorable nights throughout the festival.
