AceShowbiz - Ariana Grande, the Oscar-nominated actress and pop icon, is preparing to release her eighth studio album, Petal, later this year.
The album is a collaboration with her longtime producer Ilya, who has co-written some of her biggest hits, including "We Can't Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)," "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored," "God Is a Woman," and "Side to Side."
Ariana Grande describes Petal as "something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging." The black-and-white album cover features her looking blissful, reflecting the mood she intends to convey with this new work.
The album is scheduled for release on July 31, 2024. Fans are still awaiting details about the lead single, which has not yet been announced.
This release date coincides with the tail end of her Eternal Sunshine world tour, which kicks off on June 6 in Oakland, California, and concludes on August 23 in London. Notably, only the concerts in Chicago and London will take place after Petal is out, raising anticipation about whether those shows will feature exclusive performances from the new album that earlier tour dates will not.
Back in November, Ariana Grande revealed plans to take a prolonged break from pop music following the conclusion of this tour. On Amy Poehler's podcast Good Hang, she shared, "I'm going to give it my all. And it's going to be beautiful, and I'm so grateful. That's why I'm doing it." She described this period as her "one last hurrah" before stepping away from the music scene for a "long, long, long, long time."
If those plans hold, Ariana Grande is making sure to leave fans with a powerful final chapter through Petal before her hiatus.
