AceShowbiz - After the success of self-distributing Taylor Swift's "Eras Tour" concert film, AMC Theatres is expanding its music offerings by partnering with the newly launched entertainment company Arena One. This collaboration will bring live, interactive concert experiences directly to cinema audiences across North America and Europe.
Unlike traditional livestreams of arena tour concerts, AMC and Arena One will showcase performances by artists on a custom-built stage designed specifically for cinematic presentation. This stage, created by Arena One, leverages innovative technology to foster real-time interaction between performers and audiences. The company highlights that the setup allows crowd reactions, sounds, and energy to flow back and forth, connecting fans and artists in a unique, immersive way across hundreds of theaters.
“We built a cinematic stage optimized to translate seamlessly to cinemas, but artists are defining what it becomes,” said Arena One CEO Peter Hamilton. “They're not adapting tours; they're building something new. That's when a medium sparks reinvention.”
The partnership is set to launch on June 17 with a live performance by Bebe Rexha, followed by shows featuring Paris Hilton on June 18 and Maren Morris on June 20. Additional artist appearances will be announced in the coming weeks, expanding the lineup for this innovative concert series.
Adam Aron, Chairman and CEO of AMC Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, calling it a significant milestone. He emphasized that Arena One at AMC could open a new chapter in live entertainment by offering simultaneous live concerts at more than 300 theaters across 89 U.S. markets. Aron noted that fans nationwide will enjoy the premium experience of massive screens, powerful sound, and comfortable seating that AMC is known for, all while sharing the same live event in real time.
This venture reflects broader efforts within the cinema industry to diversify the types of content shown on the big screen. AMC's groundbreaking deal with Taylor Swift to release the "Eras Tour" concert film in 2023 marked a pivotal moment for alternative theatrical content. That film, self-distributed without a major studio, grossed an impressive $261.6 million globally, illustrating strong demand for live music in cinema venues.
The Arena One live concert series will complement AMC’s upcoming theatrical slate, which includes major 2026 releases such as Disney/Pixar’s "Toy Story 5," Universal’s "The Odyssey" in the summer, and Warner Bros.’ "Dune: Part Three" in December. The domestic box office is currently on track to reach $10 billion for the first time since the pandemic, signaling a robust recovery for theaters.
Despite a reported $117 million loss in the first quarter of 2026, AMC showed improvement compared to a $202 million loss in the same period of 2025. Revenue grew 21% year-over-year to $1.04 billion, driven by strong holiday holdovers like "Avatar: Fire and Ash" and early-year hits including "Hoppers," "Scream 7," and "Project Hail Mary."
The partnership with Arena One demonstrates AMC’s commitment to innovation and expanding live entertainment offerings beyond traditional film screenings. By leveraging interactive technology and large-scale cinema venues, AMC aims to create a new, engaging way for music fans to experience concerts together, maintaining the appeal of theaters in a competitive entertainment landscape.
